History
Turkish National Committee on Solid Wastes (KAKAD) was established within the body of Boğaziçi University with the Regulation published in the Official Gazette dated April 11, 1989, and numbered 20136, and its center is Bogazici University.
AIM
Turkish National Committee on Solid Wastes (KAKAD) started its work with a group of faculty members from Boğaziçi University, Istanbul Technical University, Middle East Technical University, and Dokuz Eylül University to work on the following subjects, and then continued its work by expanding further in terms of the number of individuals and organizations. has done.
- To encourage, carry out and support studies in the field of research and control on solid waste in Turkey, to organize scientific meetings, to publish scientific publications,
- To cooperate with relevant public and private institutions in order to control and minimize the pollution caused by solid wastes in Turkey,
- Gathering domestic, commercial, and industrial solid wastes and sludge from treatment, removing them by rendering them harmless, recycling them, and exchanging information and experience on urban and rural areas,
- Joining the "International Solid Wastes and Public Cleansing Association-ISWA" as a member organization from Turkey, representing Turkey before this Association,
- To establish contacts and relations with other individuals, institutions, and organizations that are members of the Union and to cooperate with them within the scope of their aims and possibilities.
- To organize (congress, symposium, seminar, course, workshop, etc.) in cooperation with ISWA and Universities in different cities, to raise awareness of solid waste in the region by organizing a National Symposium in the city where the University is located every year, to train the staff of local government, public and private sector organizations. To help students become more conscious about the subject by bringing together scientists who are experts in the field, and to facilitate solutions to local environmental problems.
- To provide scholarships to students from the income from the activities carried out.
